Side ramp

Side ramp

MacGregor side ramps are designed for efficient loading and unloading of vehicles and cargo

A side ramp increases the loading and discharging capacity considerably, especially where several deck levels are incorporated higher up in the vessel. MacGregor side ramps are tailored to suit various shiptypes and can be arranged to be hoistable between two or three deck levels. It doubles and forms a weathertight door when raised in its closed position.

Car carriers typically have a stern ramp and a side ramp for dual loading of many thousands of vehicles. The side ramps are very long in order to cater for tidal height variations during loading and discharge.

  • Hydraulically operated and secured ensuring water tightness in the closed position. Hydraulically operated cleats at the top and side of the side opening secures the ramp in closed position.
  • Electrically operated ramps have winches with power feedback system that replace the hydraulic winches. Actuators replace the operating cylinders.
  • Fixed wheel kerbs, handrails and anti-skid systems
