A great deal of time, effort and care go into MacGregor offshore load handling equipment so that it will perform well in a harsh environment. You rely on it to get the job done safely and effectively no matter what the conditions. Nevertheless, are your people properly trained to operate and maintain it? If not, you have no guarantee that it will perform as well, last as long or be as maintenance-friendly as you had hoped.
Do not compromise on safety or efficiency. Make sure your staff know all aspects of proper operation in normal and emergency use and can trouble-shoot and properly maintain that equipment.
We offer a complete range of equipment-based training courses for operators, engineers and other personnel. Some customers prefer crew courses designed specifically around a particular equipment setup; others send staff from several ships, or just one person to a standardised course.
Standard or customer-specific courses include a full agenda of theory and hands-on practical training that covers system design, operation, component tips, maintenance routines, operational limitations and emergency procedures. We aim to improve your staff’s total-system knowledge and awareness of operational consequences and ensure complete familiarity with proper maintenance, operating modes, and alarm settings.
Offshore crane training can also benefit from further practical training in our offshore crane training simulator. Refresher training and extra simulator days/hours can also be provided to those with previous training.
Crane simulator training
The mistakes being made by crane operators in our offshore crane training simulator tell us that crews are learning much more here than they would learn in normal operations on board their ships. It also tells us that we are saving crane and ship owners a lot of money in damages alone.
With this state-of-the-art, immersive simulator we provide operators with highly relevant practical training that they simply cannot get anywhere else. Here they hone their skills, practicing numerous drills, scenarios and challenging lift operations that pertain to the crane in question. The simulator is able to simulate a wide variety of active boost and semi-active offshore cranes with a genuine crane control system and full operator interface.
It offers a full 3D simulated environment with numerous variables including the crane size and control system itself, weather, wave direction/height, night/day, depth, load type, component breakdowns, system emergencies and other complications that reflect real-world challenges to the operator.
The simulator can also be configured to reflect your vessel, crane type and placement, and a specific load for critical operation rehearsal - just another way we can help strengthen your confidence while saving you the untold dangers and costs.
Our training centre and simulator are located in our manufacturing facilities in Kristiansand, Norway. Technical courses are offered both in this centre and at the client’s location if so wished. We have highly experienced instructors and experts in relevant technical fields to ensure that students get the best of all areas of the course. Theory and practice are well in balance and all topics are clearly explained with opportunities for discussion and questions. Feedback received from customers and own service people has been extremely positive.
