Our RoRo systems harmonise the essential cargo flow functions of access, stowage, care and handling, while building in operational flexibility. Most of the world’s vehicle carriers – pure car carrying (PCC), pure car/truck carrying (PCTC) and large car/truck carriers (LCTCs) – feature MacGregor RoRo access equipment, including state-of-the art electric-drive systems that improve performance and protect the environment.
Pure car/truck carriers (PCTCs) allow for a combination of cars and high-and-heavy transport units to be carried. They typically have a stern ramp and a side ramp for dual loading of thousands of vehicles such as cars, lorries, and heavy machinery. Liftable car decks allow for high-vehicle clearance and can be raised or lowered to adjust deck heights for high-and-heavy cargo. The largest PCTC may have up to 13 decks, of which some can be hoistable and carry more than 7,200 ceu.
PCTCs are replacing PCCs, allowing for a combination of cars and high-and-heavy transport units to be carried. Liftable car decks allow for high-vehicle clearance.
Large car/truck carriers (LCTCs) typically have an extra wide and strong stern quarter ramp and a side ramp for dual loading and discharging. They can load heavy cargo units on strengthened decks. LCTCs can carry up to 8,000 CEU.
